A wealth of cultural events are organised every year by the Municipality of Heraklion and the annual Summer Arts Festival has become famous for its variety of events for citizens and visitors alike.

This year’s 2019 Program includes plays, concerts, ballet and children’s events, many with free entrance.

Tickets are usually available 7 days in advance of a performance from the Municipality Box Office at the Nikos Kazantzakis Open-Air Theatre at the top of Evans Street.

Alongside the main festival events, the ‘South Piazza Bassa, Bethlehem Bastion’ Municipal Open-Air Cinema (on Plastira Avenue) will be open for the 13th consecutive year, offering newly released movies as well as Greek and International classics.
